Jean Schmidt, U.S. House of Representatives

Schmidt, Jean. Representative, United States Congress. 8044 Montgomery Rd. Suite 54, Cincinnati, OH, 45243. (513) 791-0381. 12 May 2008.

Congresswoman Jean Schmidt serves the second congressional district of Ohio in the United States House of Representatives. She was elected in 2005 to assume the seat of Rob Portman. She was re-elected in November 2006 and is up for re-election again in the fall. Prior to that she served in the Ohio House of Representatives. At both the state and national level, the Congresswoman has sponsored and cosponsored many bills relating to women’s health and reproductive issues. She has a staunch pro-life stance and has worked to restrict abortion. She also has worked to help women make informed decisions about abortion and adoption, sponsoring bills that help put ultrasound equipment in pregnancy resource centers and make it easier for women to put their baby up for adoption. The Congresswoman further sponsored legislation that recognized the importance of crisis pregnancy centers. Despite her staunch pro-life stance, she is well informed on current legislation and pro-life advocacy and presents that view very well.
